Carmela + Sal

location: New Jersey / New York

I received a phone call one day, from a fellow name Sal, who was on a hunt for a cinematographer.   He was looking for something unique and out of the norm.   His search began within the vicinities of  New Jersey and New York with no luck.  He and his fiance expressed their interest in my work and asked if I could come up to New Jersey to film their wedding.  Are you kidding me?  Film a wedding in New Jersey AND New York…I couldn’t wait to pack my bags!

Once we got there, we immediately felt at home.  Not only were they hospitable, they were some of the most down-to-earth New Yorkers I’ve met.  They gave me and my crew "full creative reign" over their wedding (singing ALLELUIA!!!).  From concept to completion, it was all up to us.  I wanted to jump for joy.  There’s nothing more wonderful than giving a cinematographer full control of scope and creativity.

If you ever need advice on throwing a party, call on Sal and Carmela.  Their wedding reception was more than a party, it literally felt like a club.  The DJ really knew how to rock it.  When the bride and groom were introduced, everybody ran to the dance floor and rocked out for a good hour and a half.  Usually guests can't wait until the wedding party's introduced so the feast can begin.  Forget about eating, lets just dance the night away!!

Carmela and Sal did not skimp out on details.  From the venue to the flowers, the cakes, and the photographer (Callahan Photo),  everything about the wedding was exquisite!  Big thanks to Cory for referring us to a very unique and unforgetable wedding.

Carmela + Sal "nifty-fifty"

location: New York • photographer: CallahanPhoto

Here at CollabCreation Films we are always looking for new and exciting ways to create innovative products and services especially when it comes to emulating film. Film has always been an obsession of mine. There’s something about the texture and feel of film that compares to no other.

We were hired to film a wedding in New York and decided to bring our little gadget which I call "the nifty fifty". If you noticed on some wedding shots, Aranya, one of our CCF cinematographer; has been seen carrying this gadget around. She was constantly asked, whether the contraption was a camera or camcorder. It’s actually a camcorder that is fixed with a Depth of Field adapter. For more info about DOF adapters click on this link: DOF

I take the footage while Aranya captures and creates this old film strip feel video. If this is something that might interest you; let us know…it could be one of the most discussed piece of your wedding!!

bridal fashion shoot

I am ecstatic to present to you our latest CollabCreation video, The Bridal Fashion Shoot.  This shoot took place in St. Augustine Florida, in the early month of February, at a COOLING temperature of about 60 degrees.  What can I say... I'm a FLORIDIAN!  It was a Concept Shoot, two days to film, for the Spring Release 2009 Jacksonville Magazine.

This opportunity came to me when I received an e-mail from, none other than, Ms. Liza Chung.  Of course, I couldn't pass up this offer and was well on my way to planning the next creative shot.  On the day of the shoot, I met many wonderful and very talented artists.  Agnes Lopez, Victoria Boyles, Jackie Neal, BMG Models, just to name a few.  But what I love about these kinds of shoot is that it is very well put together, which allows me to film what I want to capture.  I like to express my creativeness through the lens and display it out on video.

The fashion industry allows me to explore a whole new type of style in filming.  In closing, I truly want to thank Ms. Liza Chung for letting me take part in collaborating with her and many other talented artists.

brothers collaboration: sidney project

This piece is a Father’s Day gift for a wonderful father in my life. Two months ago, during a ride home from work, Mike talked excitedly about a great song he heard by Kelis, called Lil’ Star. He said he almost cried listening to the song because it made him think of all the obstacles his daughter, Sydney will encounter in life. After listening to the song, I fell in love with it. It is the best message a father can give to his daughter; no matter what you encounter in life…just keep trying. It immediately made me think of my Dad, who has been my biggest fan growing up. I may be in my 30’s, but I’ll never be too old to be daddy’s girl.

I asked both of my brothers to help me put together a gift for Mike for Father’s Day. He always says how Sydney is growing up so fast, so I wanted to capture a small piece of this wonderful little sunshine name Sydney!! God has blessed me with two very talented brothers, who worked so hard to make this gift happen. They have created such an amazing piece.

Early April, I asked Mike if I can take Sydney to the park for a couple of hours early one Saturday morning. My brothers Eric, Aries and nephew Angel met us at the playground. My brothers went right to work doing what they both do best. Even my nephew Angel was put to work…in fact he worked so hard in the scorching heat, that he fell asleep on a park bench near the end of the shoot.

Thank you Aries and Eric for all you’ve done to make this happen. Not only did you both spend hours at the playground capturing images of Sydney, but afterwards spent countless number of hours touching up the images and putting the video together. You guys do amazing work and it shows in this video. Angel, great job in keeping the video a secret buddy!! To all the wonderful father’s in my life…Happy Father’s Day!!!

-Ivy (Erics Sister)

I have been swamped with editing weddings these past 2 weeks. October is such a big month for me, and from the looks of it, every photographer I talked to were busy with weddings as well. I don't know what it is but October seems to be the month to get married this year. When Aranya got off work she asked me if I wanted to swing by and eat Cha chicken with Chinese Chives with her. Of course, I can't pass up free food. I had a bright idea of capturing it on film. So I packed my equipment and headed over. I really enjoy filming new things and since food is my favorite hobby, I had to get it on film. Filming on an empty stomach took the best of me. Although it’s a simple meal to prepare I was directing her in so many ways that it started to burn the garlic, so we decided to just finish cooking and maybe the next meal we film will be better planned out. So enjoy… If you want the recipe, send me a message I’ll post it up as well. Time to dig in… Yummy!!!
